Joseph and Clara Pilates passed on the Pilates work to their protégé, Romana Kryzanowska, who created the Romana’s Pilates International® Teacher Certification program.
This program requires a minimum of 600 hours of training, renewed annually through a Romana’s Pilates® Continuing Professional Education course.
Circ Pilates Studio owner and intructor Carrie Kenneally has been a Romana’s Pilates International® Instructor Trainer since 2012. This Pilates certification program is internationally recognized, and Circ Pilates Studio is pleased to officially open the process for Romana’s Pilates International® certification program here in OKC.
Circ Pilates Studio is pleased to be a part of the Instructor Training Program for Romana’s Pilates International®. This program is well rounded because it provides the deep knowledge of the exercises and safety that Romana instilled in all of us. This is a long journey, but it is a worthwhile experience.
The program usually takes between 9 months to a year, depending on your availability to accomplish your observation hours, workshops and test out at the three different levels of systems (basic, intermediate and advanced).
Circ Pilates Studio owner Carrie Kenneally is a Level IV Instructor Trainer who facilitates your 600+ hours of observation needed for the program. Higher leveled teachers will be/may be brought in for the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Seminars, as well as the final test out at the advanced level.
The Romana’s Pilates International® training program encompasses the mat and all of the Pilates equipment that Joseph Pilates invented. Circ Pilates Studio is pleased to have all of this equipment, exclusively with Gratz Pilates equipment: Reformer, Cadillac, Barrels (Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector & Half-Barrel) , Chairs (High Back Chair, Wunda Chair, Arm Chair), Pedi-Pole, Guillotine, Magic Circle, Foot Corrector, Toe Corrector, Swedish Barre.
Through this program you will:
- Achieve an internationally recognized Pilates certificate on the reformer, mat, and all the apparatuses that Joseph Pilates invented.
- Accomplish a deep understanding of the Pilates method, basic through advanced level.
- Understand how to modify and personalize the exercises for individual body specifics and needs.
- Learn several ways to teach and spot the exercises.
- Continue your knowledge and join the worldwide community of Romana’s Pilates International®.
Prior to starting the program you must commit to 10-15 hours a week as a minimum for observation, sessions and practice teaching hours at the studio. (The schedule for these hours is flexible.) These hours are key in your ability to learn and properly teach Pilates to students and truly understand how different bodies need different modifications/exercises. These are here as a means to grow in your knowledge and understanding of Pilates.
You must be at a strong intermediate/advanced level in your Pilates Training, per Romana’s Pilates International®. This is needed on all pieces of equipment (reformer, Cadillac, chairs, barrels, etc.). This will be decided by a Level IV or higher Romana’s Pilates trained instructor. In the past it has taken between 50-100 lessons before a person is prepared for the RP certification program.
You must have an interview, along with your initial assessment into the program.
Upon certification, you must complete at least one Continuing Education Program (CPE) per year in order to keep your skills and safeties current.
15 private lessons are required by the completion of the program.
Initial Assessment:
This is a workout in which you demonstrate adequate understanding of the Romana’s Pilates System at the Intermediate/advanced level (order of exercises, you knowledge of the exercises themselves and what the exercise is for). This includes: reformer, Cadillac, mat, chairs. Proper springs setup, the order of the exercises, the ability to flow from one exercise to the next and aptitude to learn the exercises is needed to pass your initial assessment. This typically lasts 1.5 hours with an interview. Assessments can be done at Circ Pilates Studio or at another Romana’s Pilates studio, by a Level IV instructor.
Fees do not include testing, or required lessons. Please inquire for more details.
If you have other questions please feel free to email the studio info@circpilatesstudio.com or call the studio at (917) 974-2616, Carrie will be happy to speak with you in greater detail.
