About owner/founder

Carrie Kenneally - Studio Owner Level 4 Romana’s Pilates® Instructor

Now in her sixteenth year of teaching Pilates,

Carrie Kenneally, a Level 4 Romana’s Pilates® instructor since 2012, is the owner and founder of Circ Pilates Studio in mid-town Manhattan.

After a fulfilling career as a professional dancer, Carrie Kenneally turned to the Pilates instructor training program created by Romana Kryzanowska. For over seven years, Carrie had the unique opportunity to study and teach under Joseph and Clara Pilates protégé and Romana’s Pilates® founder, Romana Kryzanowska, her daughter Sari Mejia Santo and her granddaughter Daria Pace. Throughout her training, and to this day, Carrie brings to her studio and integrates into her work the knowledge of many wonderful teachers who trained directly under Romana.

Carrie Kenneally’s dance training began in her home state of Minnesota, at the Minnesota Dance Theatre Performing Arts Program. She has taught and performed with professional ballet and Broadway companies across the United States and Europe (see Dance Experience, below). Her first practice with Pilates began while studying in Chicago at the advice of her ballet director. After sustaining a dance injury while performing in New York City, Carrie began regular Pilates sessions for recovery. The Pilates work was not only essential to her rehabilitation, it strengthened her dancing for the rest of her career as a performer. This respect for and her enjoyment of the Pilates method inspired her to become a certified Pilates instructor upon her retirement from performing.

From 2009-2015, Carrie also taught Pilates as an adjunct faculty member in the Dance Department at the Juilliard School. In 2014, Carrie received her Certificate in Dance Rehabilitation Training from Westside Dance Physical Therapy in New York City.

In December 2016, Carrie opened her own studio, Circ Pilates, in the Park Towers South Building at Columbus Circle in the heart of the performing arts community. Carrie’s passion for sharing with fellow dancers the many health benefits and the longevity that Pilates brings to a dancer’s career inspired her to also found Pilates Resource For Dancers NYC  providing dancer rates for Pilates instruction to professional dancers and dance students.
